About Me

Hello Visitor!

Thank you for spending time reading my running blog!

My story, in short: I was a non-runner, turned marathoner in a year, after being inspired by cheering friends on at the 2007 NYC Marathon. Without knowing about the Marathon Maniacs, I ran my first 3 marathons in a span of 9 weeks (just over 2 months) and was hooked. To read a more detailed version, visit my "Hello (Running) World !" post.

Since then I've set about using running as a reason to maintain fitness, strive for visiting all 50 states & 7 continents, advance the cause of pancreatic cancer awareness, test my personal endurance limits, and convince my friends to also join in on this crazy sport known as distance and ultra running.

To date, I have completed 98 marathons and ultras in a span of over 3.5 years and have raised over $59,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Mount Sinai Medical Center's World Trade Center Health Program, American Cancer Society, and Back on My Feet.

My story has been featured on The New York Daily News, NYRR, MyBergen.com, NYCRuns.com, Pavement Pieces, Examiner.com, and a number of other national publications. I was also mentioned on Discovery.com (The Discovery Channel's online site). In 2011, I was awarded with the 50&DC Marathon Group's Humanitarian Award.

I am a member of the Marathon Maniacs (#1382, 10-Star Titanium Level Member), 50 States Marathon Club, 50&DC Marathon Group, 50sub4 Club, New York Road Runners, Van Cortlandt Track Club, PoweredByDimSum, Reston Runners, and USA Track & Field.

The purpose of this blog is to act as a repository of my race reports and to share my experiences and knowledge of running with you all, my family: the running community!

Cheers,
Kino
